Rager in the nursery

Using a light table in play is meant to be an added layer of sensory exploration. It is a new aspect of seeing the objects, what objects let light through, what objects change color when combined, etc. Objects that your child may or may not have already played with take on a new dimension when light is behind it. For instance, Tess always has loved these pebbles and these funnels with handles for the bath, I put them on the light box and she had so much fun exploring the colors. We got our light box on etsy and I was so excited to share with all of you and then the shop closed! However, here is an amazing alternative, although it doesn’t change color, that’s sort of sensory overload anyway! All you need is plain simple light as a surface. We have these exact tables in the playAGAIN Loose Parts Studio at Union Square Play and they are awesome. Definitely takes up space, but if you have it, I highly recommend a light table. Even using shaving cream on them (if you dare) provides a play experience that lasts a realllllly long time.
